* Noah's Wish *
is a charity that rescues and sustains animals endangered
by natural disasters.
The charity travels to areas recently affected by disaster
and evacuate pets, livestock and wildlife. They then shelter,
feed and care for the animals until they can be returned to
their owners or otherwise housed more permanently.
Based in Placerville, California, they have helped relief
efforts internationally, such as after the Boxing Day Tsunami
hit Sri Lanka in December 2004, and after the August 2005
flooding in Romania. Within North America they have assisted
in the wake of a number of forest fires and hurricanes since
being founded by Terri Crisp in 2002. Outside of relief work,
they train volunteers to deal effectively and practically
in disaster situations.
Most famously they set up a rescue operation in Slidell, Louisiana
after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in September 2005.
As of 25 September 2005 they had cared for 700 animals during
this situation and reunited more than 150 lost pets with their
owners.
They attempt to remain separate from issues of animal welfare
and neglect, concentrating solely on their mission statement:
"We exist to keep animals alive during disasters."

*Forgotten Animals of Los Angeles*
Forgotten Animals of Los Angeles (“FALA”)
is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to humane
nurturing, neutering and finding loving homes for abandoned
cats and kittens. Each animal receives a health check, is
tested, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and dewormed prior
to adoption. The tax-deductible donation required from each
would-be adopter ensures the safety and welfare of the next
abandoned cat or kitten in need.
The founder of this organization is
a very dear friend of mine. Her compassion and detication
to these animals started long ago and I'm glad she's still
going!
